    Description

Presented is a very old solid .916 silver brazier for lighting cigars, made in Spain in the 18th century. The tray is a one-inch deep octagonal bowl with a hand-engraved reeded border held aloft by the wings of four female Sphinx creatures. The Sphinxs' platform is a mirror-polished ball-footed stand, also with a reeded edge, from 1797, the year this piece was produced!
The underside of the stand bears the official assayer marks for Madrid, Spain including the date marks for 1797.
The overall condition of the piece is very good. It is missing its original wood handles, but you can easily replace these if you wish. You will see surface scratches from use, but there are no damages and no repairs to this over two-hundred year old brazier.
Dimensions: 2 3/4 inches tall by 5 inches long by 3 inches wide
    Weight:  10.5 oz (298.2 grams)
