    Description

You are bidding on a large, very rare original antique print from an 1880s French illustrated journal.
    It depicts a brave Flat-
Coated Retriever (Flatcoat, Flattie, Flatte, Flattie-Tattie, flatt) who has gone to retrieve a snipe or woodcock a hunter has shot. He has falled through the ice and is struggling to get to shore-- with the bird.  Included with the print is a second page with a 15-inch article in French (computer translations are easy these days).
    The caption reads: Pauvre Chien!
which roughly translates to: Poor dog!
It is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 14.5 inches (26.5 x 36.5 cm). The picture fills most of the page, with a French caption below.
The page is in excellent condition for its age.
There is text/photos on the back of the print.
See scan for an accurate view of the condition.
This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
